The Death of Value

The Death of Value

Donald Trump was shot in the ear in an assassination attempt.  Corey Comperatore was killed in this shooting.  We constantly hear of shootings all across our country.  Many blame guns for the killing but there are deeper issues.  People are simply losing value.  The Bible proclaims that we are designed by the greatest designer and architect, the most knowledgeable creator in the universe. Therefore we have value because of who created us.  Secondly, we have been created in the image of the most valuable being in the universe.  This makes us incredibly valuable.  On the other hand, evolution tells us that we are an accident in this material world in time and space.  We are said to have evolved from animals.  When people call each other animal names, it is usually to devalue them or insult them.  For example: "They are acting like a bunch of monkeys" or "That guy is a dog."  Evolution has a big value problem.  Do we only value those who seem to be the most evolved?  This leads to racism.  Evolution advances when the weaker animals die off and the stronger survive.  We think we know who the weaker people are and who the stronger people are.  Evolution erodes human value.
Mostly because of convenience, we have deleted 63 million people in American before they could be born.  It is legal to end life for human beings.  We call it choice.  Life has little value when we can casually discard it for any reason.  The only difference in killing a grown adult is the stage of maturity.  Life loses its value when we so easily erase it.  Does it matter?  If there is no God to answer to and we are just accidental occurrences, perhaps it doesn't matter.  If there is a God that will judge all mankind and we are valuable, then it certainly does matter.  Psalm 139 states that God has knit us together in our mother's womb.  I believe that God knows every conceived being.  I believe he knows how many breaths each life will breathe.  He knows how many hairs each head will have.  He knows how many steps each person will take.  He knows how many times each heart will beat.  He, in fact, knows everything!
Environmentalism makes people the enemy.  Many elitists believe that there are too many people in the world.  They say that nature can only be saved by decreasing world population.  Nature is valued but humans are deemed a threat to nature.  Here again, people are not a value.
I believe these philosophies are impacting the homicide rate in America.  The Trump shooter hated our former president.  Many people hate those who hold a different viewpoint especially during election season.  1 John 4:9 states, "If a man say I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar: for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen?"
Everyone asks the question, "Am I Valuable?"  Our country seems to be giving people less value.
